Carpentry

Course Description This basic course will introduce the various hand and machine tools used by carpenters. It will include modern building materials and practices. The work of carpenters will be reviewed and opportunities will be provided for students to construct small sections of buildings. Emphasis on the skills, techniques and methods of construction in the areas of rafter framing, roofing materials and application, cornice work, types of siding and application, setting door frames and jambs, hanging doors, and other phases of interior work. This course will develop proficiency leading to employment in the residential and remodeling field.
